Hello All!

I am changing up the Sitter Spotlight for this edition! We have not one, but 3 sitters to put in a Spotlight (and they are pretty familiar with spotlights as it happens…).

A little background: My other life outside of Rover is professional theatre. One of the most powerful ways to promote, grow, and nurture your Rover business is to utilize the Rover store. It might sound silly, but even wearing a Rover t-shirt when you go on dog walks, do drop-in visits, or let your own dog out for a bathroom break can be a tool. Better yet, make sure you have business cards on hand to give out to anyone who inquires about your t-shirt.

We love Meet & Greets where everything clicks—like when a shy dog decides to rest their head on your lap, or when you and the pet owner manage to cover everything from the dog’s allergies to their adorable quirks). The Meet & Greet provides the perfect opportunity to get to know your potential (human and canine) clients and determine if a stay or walk is a good fit. We’ve put together everything you need to know about Meet & Greets so you can continue to wow dog owners and book the clients who are right for you.

As much as sitters on Rover love hanging out with furry pals, an important aspect of your business is the money associated with each stay. A lot of sitters use Rover as a full-time source of income, or as a way to help with the costs associated with life. These are the main parts of your Rover account you should focus on to help you make more money.

Knowing when to offer a discount can be tricky. As sitters handling your own rate and business, we know how important it is to set a rate that is competitive and still offer enough so that you can have a successful business. Offering a discount is a great way to bridge this gap. Presenting a discount prior to a stay to a potential client or as an incentive to a past client are two of the most common times a discount is offered.
