Re: Starting Off

Hello @ashleynadean17 and welcome to the Rover sitter community!  Bookings should start to roll in as owners search for new sitters, but here are a couple of tips to help you get booking requests quicker:

  • Make sure you have at least a couple of reviews on your profile.  If you don't, try asking friends and family if you can watch their dog at a discounted rate in exchange for a review
  • Respond to booking requests that you receive as promptyly as possible, as this impacts where you show up in search results
  • Make sure you have wide availability (ie, not just Saturdays and Sundays, as you wouldn't appear in search for an owner who is looking for a 3+ day stay or consistent walks) and that you log into the Rover site from time to time to confirm your availability
  • Consider offering boarding if you are able to
  • Head to the Rover store and order some business cards - start handing them out to people in your neighborhood or at your local dog park
  • Post an ad for your services (with your profile link) on craigslist

Also, make sure you check out and browse around the Sitter Resources section of the community for some more helpful tips on how to start and grow your business - for example, how to optimize your profile and how to set your price.  Keep us posted and let us know how it goes!

Just a note:   Craiglist now charges $5 to post your Rover services
