How do I get clients

I just became a sitter and I am wondering how long it takes to receive clients? I am available to pet sit , walk, boarding and house sit. I followed all the rover 101 suggestions and have not had any clients. I’ve put my client ID along with the promo code for new clients on social media but nothing. How long does it take to receive a client? I don’t know what else to do to promote my services

Re: How do I get clients

There is no set time for new sitters to acquire clients, for some it happens very quickly for others it can take months.     It is common for new sitters to have the community review your profile and make suggestions for improvement or to correct deficiencies.   Post your Rover profile link from your dashboard and we can take a look for you.  Best of luck

Re: How do I get clients

HI THERE,

I'M IN THE SAME BOAT. Just registered a few weeks ago and haven't got one bite (no pun intended). There are so many walkers in my area I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong :) ...

Re: How do I get clients

I would suggest posting pictures of you with your pet ,and other pet's ie family and or friends. Ugh! Its all how you market your self and your space. Look through other sitters profile pictures ( top sitters in your area). Great pet pic's with you and the pet having a blast is what gets the response.

If you have not done so already...

Re: How do I get clients

Sorry just thought of another idea to share with you. Besides linking the Rover link to your social media accounts, I actually invested in the rover shirts. I wear them when running around locally, food shopping, my childrens activites. Even to casual resturants, they are so bright people instantly see me.  Since I am local they open the app and may remember my face.

Just another suggestion that has worked for me.

Re: How do I get clients

I too, am in the same boat. I have posted many more pictures and am available for many services. I wonder if the only way to find people is to post on Social Media. I have posted on Next Door and gotten a few nibbles but nothing from here. I wish I would at least get a nibble here.

Someone did tell me that when they went here to find a sitter, that there were so many people to choose from. I wonder if it takes good marketing and making a profile super interesting or something. I am very much open to suggestions! Thanks!

Re: How do I get clients

Hi!  Feedback and insight from sitters like you is an important part of maintaining a quality experience and we really appreciate you taking the time to reach out for assistance/ideas from other sitters who may be experiencing similar situations! I wanted to share some tips for promoting your business and making your profile really stand out:

  1. Rover 101. Knowledge is power—learn the basics and then take our Rover 101 Quiz to earn a profile badge.

  2. Create a polished profile. A well-written and professional profile is a great way to attract clients, so to take your time and be specific about what services you do and don’t offer. We also recommend uploading 7-10 well-lit photos of you, your dog, and your family. Check out our photo guide for tips on taking great pet and profile photos.

  3. Keep your calendar up to date to make sure you only get requests you’re available to book.

  4. Request testimonials. Ask family, friends, or anyone who knows your experience with animals to submit a written testimonial about you. Just go to your profile, select Testimonials, enter their email addresses, and select Request Testimonials.

  5. Create your unique promo code. You can create a unique promo code and URL (website address) to share with potential clients. With the promo code, they’ll get a $20 credit toward their first service while you’ll still earn your normal rate—win-win!

  6. Craigslist and NextDoor. Follow each link to post info about your services to Craigslist and NextDoor. This is a great way to attract new clients to your Rover profile.

  7. Order custom print materials. Lawn signs, business cards, car magnets—we’ve got it all and more in the Rover Sitter Store. Our research shows that sitters who pass out business cards get 60% more bookings than those who don’t.

For more on launching your business and becoming a great sitter, check out the Sitter Resource Center and the Running My Business section in our Help Center.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask! Thanks for being a part of the Rover community.
